Ecma Technical Committee TC51 joins the ITU-T Joint Coordination Activity on digital Covid-19 Certificates (JCA-DCC)

The TC51 Secretary represented the Ecma TC at the first meeting of the ITU-T JCA-DCC that took place virtually on 1 June 2022. The ITU-T identified a need for coordinating activities across ITU-T SGs and related SDOs working on this important subject. The JCA was established in October 2021 for this purpose. Its scope is the coordination of ITU-T DCC standardization work among relevant ITU-T study groups and external organizations and forums, fostering the use of compatible data architectures for sharing data, and promoting interoperability, agility and safety for users, and all relevant stakeholders involved.

The first meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Heung Youl Youm (Soonchunhyang University, Korea) reviewed the standardization efforts in the following ITU-T Study Groups, SDOs and organizations: ITU-T Study Group 17, European Commission, ISO/TC 215, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31, Ecma TC51, ETSI TC eHEALTH and ITU-T Focus Group on AI for Health [DCC-004].

The JCA decided to develop a roadmap for DCC standardization and will hold its second meeting in November 2022.
