This Technical Report establishes an abstract model for the management aspects of OSI. It contains precise descriptions and terminology to provide a framework for OSI Management standardization activities.
Specifically, this Technical Report defines:
- concepts and terminology for describing an abstract model of OSI Management;
- an overview of the objectives and services of Management in the OSI environment;
- a description of the components of OSI Management;
- general principles used for classifying management activities.
A clear statement of how OSI Management activities relate to the OSI Basic Reference Model ISO 7498 (and its related services) is provided.
This Technical Report is neither intended to be an implementation specification for ISO Management protocols nor a basis for appraising the conformance of actual implementations.
